Pride Banners

In 2024, Minto Pride purchased Pride banners featuring the Progress Pride flag to be erected in each of the three towns that make up the Town of Minto- Palmerston, Harriston and Clifford. The banners will be hung each year during the month of June in celebration of Pride month.

Rainbow Crosswalk in Harriston

Minto Pride partnered with the Town of Minto in 2022 to install the first rainbow crosswalk in Wellington County. The Town covered the cost of the already approved crosswalk, and Minto Pride fundraised to cover the additional cost of the rainbow paint. The crosswalk includes the traditional red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple and then it also includes the progress flag colours – blue, pink, white, black and brown to support trans anc non-binary individuals and people of colour.

Our Small Town PRIDE

Wellington County Museum and Archives (WCMA) collaborated with Minto Pride in 2023 to create Our Small Town PRIDE: A Celebration of 2SLGBTQI+ Stories and History.

Our Small Town PRIDE was on display in the Archives from May 27, 2023 throughout Pride Month, and beyond until February 4, 2024 and included photographs and stories from the Minto Pride Committee highlighting dozens of Wellington County residents from the 2SLGBTQI+ community. The display invited visitors to learn more about Wellington County’s pride history and add their own story to the Revelation Rainbow – a colourful, empowering, sometimes sad, and often humourous collection of anecdotes.

Out and Proud Features

During COVID, Minto Pride had to find creative ways to support and uplift stories from the 2SLGBTQIA+ community when we couldn’t come together to celebrate Pride in person. The Out and Proud campaign showcased queer community members from in and around the Town of Minto discussing what Pride means to them.
